Specs at a Glance

The Lexus UX is a subcompact crossover SUV that offers families luxury-level performance and materials in a smaller package. On the other hand, the NX, while still compact, is larger than the UX—Lexus’s smallest SUV—providing more cargo space and a roomier cabin for greater comfort. Which one is right for you? In this overview, we’ll compare both models to help you decide.

Performance

The hybrid Lexus UX produces 196 horsepower with its hybrid powertrain system. The NX, however, comes with several performance options: the NX 250 delivers 203 horsepower, the turbocharged inline-4 engine offers 275 horsepower, and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants generate 204 and 304 horsepower, respectively. Which powertrain best suits your needs? We suggest test-driving both the UX and NX to find the performance that matches your driving style.

Design

The UX is the smallest SUV in Lexus’s lineup, while the NX is slightly larger but still embodies the brand’s signature luxury. The UX sits lower, with a sleeker, more angular hood line compared to the more traditionally styled NX. If you prefer a bold, distinctive look, the UX stands out, whereas the NX appeals to those who enjoy a more classic design. Both models are available in F Sport versions, which add sportier styling elements. The UX offers wheel sizes up to 18 inches, while the NX can be equipped with up to 20-inch wheels, including 20-inch split-5-spoke alloy wheels with dark metallic finishes.

Features

Both the UX and NX offer a range of high-end technology and interior features, but they differ in key areas. The UX includes an 8-inch touchscreen, with an optional upgrade to 12.3 inches, while the NX is available with a larger 14-inch touchscreen featuring Cloud Navigation and Destination Assist. Inside, the NX offers additional options like Black Prism interior trim and Black Open-Pore wood, which aren’t available on the UX. Both SUVs come equipped with the Lexus Safety System 3.0, but the NX also includes features like Intuitive Parking Assist with automatic braking.
