What's New For the 2021 Lexus IS?

Now in its third generation of production, the IS - Lexus's rear-wheel drive compact sedan - gets a significant refresh in 2021. The IS now feels tighter and more engaging on the road, with a suspension constructed with lighter material. For 2021, Lexus makes the F Sport trim - so named because of its sportier exterior and interior-available on just the upper-level IS 350 model. Touch control is now standard on the infotainment screen with the Remote Touch controller. The infotainment system now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and Amazon Alexa connectivity.

2021 Lexus Comes with an Amazing Array of Features

The 2021 Lexus IS is available in IS 300 and IS 350 models. Two rows of synthetic leather-trimmed seats accommodate up to five people. Front sports-styled seating consists of a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat (which faces a leather-wrapped steering wheel) and an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Choosing the F Sport trim adds heating and cooling on the front seats.

For infotainment, the Lexus IS-in addition to the previously mentioned Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa-combines the 10-speaker AM/FM stereo system, HD Radio, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free for voice commands, a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, two USB ports, a 7-inch screen with the previously mentioned Remote Touch controller. Lexus Enform provides a wide range of telematics services that include remote engine start, service scheduling, automatic collision notification, and destination locator. Keyless entry, a garage-door opener, a moonroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control are also standard. Go with the F Sport, and Lexus transforms the dashboard with distinctive racing-style gauges.

Lexus IS Powertrain and Its Performance

The IS 300 and IS 350 are named after the displacement of their workhorses. The IS 300 is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which produces 241 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The IS 350 rolls with a larger, 3.5-liter V6, which produces 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. For greater acceleration ability, the IS 350 is obviously the better choice, as it achieves the IS's peak 0-to-60 mph time of 5.6 seconds.

Technologies to Keep You Safe

The Lexus IS comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, a driver-assistance suite that combines features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and vehicle detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and lane tracing assist. Also present are features such as six airbags, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, electronic vehicle stability control and traction control, and an anti-lock braking system with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution.
